Have you ever been out for a walk, showering, swimming, drifting into sleep and you get this awesome idea that you feel will change your life forever? Then you take that idea, run with it and become a super human whose dreams know no bounds? Yeah, me either. This blog is my attempt at reigning in some of those shiny, elusive thoughts that both energize me and totally bum me out.
First off, I wanted to explain why this is called "The Scooter Project". As most of my first time reader(s)? will know, Scooter, birth name Ashley Gallant, was a good friend of mine I met in university. She was one of those people that you instantly connect with and want to make happy. I think you understand what I mean when I say she was a TRUE friend. Perhaps I wasn't that to her, but she definitely was to me. She was the type of friend that you go out of your way for, that you hang out with doing nothing but enjoying every second and who totally loves enjoying the simple things in your company - like playing card games or eating hot dogs for supper, three days in a row. I used to sit in Scooter's room just to hang out with her - see the picture I'm painting here? She was extremely smart (to the point where you were embarrassed about half the things you said around her) hilarious (piss yourself laughing type) and KIND. Although Scooter was all sorts of awesome, she had one thing against her in life - her heart. In 2009, Scooter died of congenital heart failure - she was only 27. I'm now 27, a little brighter and maybe a tad bit wiser and I feel like I have some kind of duty to give the world back some of the love Scooter gave me.

The goal for this blog is pretty simple - it's a guide for me to live better, embracing the values of the Scooter Project. And I suppose that it will be a lot easier for me to do that if I have witnesses. An amazing woman once asked me, "Would you still run a marathon if you couldn't tell anyone that you did it?" Honestly? No. Mostly because I can hardly make it around the block without taking a power nap but also because I've enjoyed my achievements and happy moments a whole lot more because I've been able to share them with people who care about me. An awesome friend or family member looking back at you when you've accomplished something great is the best mirror you could ever hope for. (I warn that there will be a lot of cheese whiz in this text, because I'm just that kind of gal.) Also - I curse, I'm not religious and sometimes I like animals more than people.
Alright, whittled down audience, since it's the new year, I thought I would kick this off in a completely original way and share with you my resolutions or GOALS for 2015. Given that Artificial Intelligence could be an imminent threat (sure, I plan to live for another 100 years) and the basis of the Scooter Project is to share LOVE, I've decided to improve my health and happiness by working on the following:
1) Getting healthy and making it easy
2) Writing/creating for FUN
3) Flossing
Wanted/expected results:
1) I will be healthier and happier
2) I will help make other people happy
3) I will have whiter teeth (so I can finally audition for that Colgate commercial)
I'll elaborate more sometime soon. For now, I've put this out there and hope that it will be motivation enough to get me going.
Looking forward to chatting with whoever you are over the next year. 2015 is going to be a gooder.
